Compact XTAR VC4SL Battery Charger for Li-ion and Ni-MH Batteries

The XTAR VC4SL is an upgraded version of the VC4S charger, featuring several enhancements. Firstly, the charging slot has been extended to accommodate longer batteries, such as protected 21700 batteries. Secondly, the input interface has been upgraded from Micro USB to Type-C. Lastly, the package now includes an 18W QC3.0 adapter.

For those unfamiliar with the VC4S, the VC4SL offers three major functions: battery charging, battery capacity detection, and battery life extension. Regarding battery charging, the VC4SL is compatible with a wide range of Li-ion and Ni-MH/Ni-CD batteries, including 10440, 14500, 14650, 16340, 17335, 17500, 17670, 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650, 18700, 20700, 21700, 22650, 25500, 26650, and 32650. It also supports the QC3.0 fast charging protocol, with a maximum current of 3A per slot.

The VC4SL's battery capacity detection feature, known as the "grading mode," allows the charger to charge, fully discharge, and then recharge the battery to determine its real capacity. The "storing mode" is designed to maximize battery life by charging or discharging the battery to its rated voltage when it is not in use for an extended period or during long-distance transportation.

The VC4SL charger features a smart LCD display that automatically identifies the battery type and charging status. The display can show the battery's capacity, current, and internal resistance. The charger also offers adjustable charging currents (3A/2A/1A/0.5A/0.25A) and various button functions, including switching between charging, grading, and storing modes.

In terms of safety, the VC4SL has a built-in protection circuit that prevents over-current, over-charge, over-voltage, and short-circuit. It also features XTAR's original soft-start function and a real-time temperature control system to keep the charging process stable and the battery temperature low.
